Join us for a day of culinary training and learn why Island Flavours was chosen by Destination Canada, as one of Canada's Signature Experiences! With inspiration from here and abroad, our chef will take you on a delicious culinary journey through PEI’s local bounty of shellfish, beef, pork and, of course, PEI potatoes. Local products will be used in creating a mouth-watering menu which will include such things as, cooking a lobster the "Island" way, incorporating seasonal produce into recipes and enjoying all the local specialties of PEI! Each participant will have the opportunity to taste the creations and go home with a variety of new skills to integrate into their own cooking style.
Your day will start by meeting for 9:00am at the Riverview Country Market & KJL Meats (21 Riverside Dr, Charlottetown). This local market is where we will choose local, fresh, ingredients which we will use during the day. We will also have the opportunity to chat with the butchers and see a demonstration or two.
When we return to the Culinary Institute of Canada, a light lunch consisting of a variety of cheeses & charcuterie items will be waiting, along with a representative from Liquid Gold prepared to give a quick presentation and sampling of their products. Then it's time to don our chef whites and head to the kitchen for an afternoon of cooking! Once our recipes are completed, we will make our way up to the Dining Room, overlooking the scenic Charlottetown Harbour. Alas, we will now enjoy the fruits of our labours, sip on a glass of wine/beer and savour the flavours of Prince Edward Island.
This camp starts at 9am and will finish up around 5pm. Price includes:
